There has not been much rain in Noakhali for the last three days. However, torrential rain has started again since Monday morning. Due to this, the residents are worried that the waterlogging may increase again. They are spending their days in anxiety.

This morning, Laxminarayanpur, the Deputy Commissioner’s office area, the District Judge’s Court area, the Government Women’s College area and the Harijan community colony area were visited in the district town of Maijdi. It was seen on the spot that water is still accumulating in front of the houses and on some roads in these areas. Trial seekers can be seen walking through water in the District Judge’s Court. Residents of the Harijan community colony also have to walk through water to reach their destinations.

Sanjida Akhter, a resident of a house adjacent to Chabid Mia Road in the district town of Maijdi, told Prothom Alo that although it has not rained for three days, there is still waterlogging in the courtyard of the house. Water is flowing out of the house as soon as you step out of the house. The situation is improving very slowly due to the lack of drainage system. Your feet itch when you step into the water mixed with dirt and garbage.

Abdul Halim, a resident of Laxminarayanpur area, told Prothom Alo that there was no rain for three consecutive days. The water was receding a little faster in the first two days. But yesterday, Sunday, the water receded very slowly. There is still water in the courtyard of the house. The situation is the same in the relatively low-lying houses in the vicinity.
